1st Follow up

It's been a month since my accident and the time has come to meet my doctor again. 

My friend drove me to the hospital and an X ray of my right foot was done before meeting the doctor. When I entered the doctor's room he had already gotten the X-rays. The X-ray result was not what I was hoping for. The fracture site appeared almost the same as site in the X-ray I took 1 month ago. 

After further discussion the doctor gave me two options. The first option was to continue being on the cast and follow up again in another month. The second option was doing surgery and from the tone and presentation I realised that option number 2 was favoured by the doctor. 

Luckily since the doctor used to work at my university and owing to the fact that I'm a medical student he told me he's not going to charge me the doctor's fee. So I ended up with a hospital bill of RM 90 which is a big relief because outpatient with a specialist wasn't covered by my insurance. 

Concerns

• My hospital postings will start two months from now and for a successful posting I should be able to walk around the hospital with ease. 
• If I do the surgery now I would be able to recover by then if no complications were. If I don't do the surgery there is a risk of non union of the bones and that would make me unable to continue my studies. 

The first follow up has left me with doubtfulness and concern. I have to make the correct decision without error.
