At the ED
After a brief history the doctor at the emergency department decided to do an x ray of my right foot. Two different x ray views were taken and during the process I remembered to apply weight on my foot because the day before I had read that applying weight on the foot while taking a foot x ray helps in the diagnosis of a Lisfranc injury, which is another type of injury that is serious and is often missed.
The original x ray and the annotated x ray are shown below.
After an orthopaedic consult over the phone I was diagnosed with a right isolated medial cuneiform fracture and was put on a blackslab (a type of cast). I was asked to meet the orthopaedic specialist the following day for further consultation.
